Internships
Interns have played an important part in the work of Rights and Humanity. They are typically post-graduate students in the fields of international relations, law, politics, human rights or development studies. Interns come from around the globe and bring a valuable multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary approach to their work at Rights and Humanity. We have a close association with the University of Essex and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies in the United Kingdom, New York University in the USA and universities and research institutes in the global south.
Interns are based at the Rights and Humanity International Secretariat in Liverpool and are given assignments and responsibility commensurate with their experience. Every effort is made to involve interns in an area of work that relates to their interests. Rights and Humanity tries to ensure that interns are given a high level of responsibility in substantive research and programme work, thus maximising their contributions to the work of Rights and Humanity and to the scope of their own experience.
There should be no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship, although we are pleased to say that some interns in the past have subsequently joined Rights and Humanity as members of staff.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any financial assistance to interns, but will cover costs incurred while travelling on Rights and Humanity business during the internship period. Most of the work of Rights and Humanity is conducted in English, so a good command of the language is necessary.
