Gala Dinner at Knowsley Hall 10/12/09
On 10th December 2009, Rights and Humanity held its first exclusive Gala dinner in Liverpool at Knowsley Hall to thank those who had supported Rights and Humanity’s move to the City and to provide a networking opportunity. It was jointly hosted by Lord Derby, Edward Richard William Stanley, 19th Earl of Derby, and by Professor Julia Häusermann, MBE, Founder and President of Rights and Humanity.
The date is significant, as 10 December is celebrated globally each year as Human Rights Day in commemoration of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The dinner brought together 43 leaders from the city and region supporting Rights and Humanity. Guests included the Vice Lord Lieutenant for Merseyside, Mrs Jennifer Grundy JP DL, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart, former Chairman of Anglo American Plc, Lady Moody-Stuart, Director of the Asian University for Women, Mr Steve Broomhead, Chief Executive of North West Regional Development Agency, Ms Bernice Law, Executive Director of Operations North West Regional Development Agency, Mr Phil Garrigan of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Mr David Woods, Chairman at Royal Liver Assurance, Mr Jim Gill, OBE, Chief Executive, Liverpool Vision, Ms Rosemary Hawley MBE JP DL, Chair, Knowsley PCT Health and Social Care.

During the dinner a fundraising auction was held. Auction prizes included an elegant afternoon tea at the House of Lords with a guided tour by Lord Alton - a Trustee of Rights and Humanity; a special trip to the Knowsley Safari Park with a chance to see how things work behind the scenes; a night's stay at the 5 star Ascot Hotel in Douglas on the Isle of Mann, and an exclusive tea with Rights and Humanity’s Patron, Mrs Cherie Blair, at the Hilton hotel in Liverpool.

Rights and Humanity took the opportunity to show a series of short videos about the work we do, including messages from our international patrons. Chairman and Chief Executive of Seamark Group, Mr Iqbal Ahmed OBE, shared Grace at the end of the meal.
Rights and Humanity would like to thank all those who contributed prizes for the Auction and is very grateful to all the students who volunteered their time to support our event.
