Human Rights and Development Forum

In 1992, Rights and Humanity convened the Human Rights and Development Forum (HRDF) in the UK to bring together policy makers and practitioners in both human rights and development. The HRDF has included representatives of Government, development organisations and human rights groups and its aim is to facilitate joint analysis and to promote the integration of human rights into the ‘good governance’ policies of donor governments.

The Forum has enabled a sharing of experience and ideas, informs the work of all the Forum’s members, and strengthens our joint voice in advocacy. The Forum has been very influential and it helped prepare the ground for the later adoption by a number of UK development groups of the human rights approach that we which pioneered and advocated.
